Thursdays from 4pm-6:30pm, April 5th to May 10th (6 weeks)
In this course you'll experiment with a variety of printmaking techniques including mono-printing, single and multi-colored block printing, Chine-collé, and more! You'll learn about paper, inks, and printmaking tools, as well as how to register and edition your prints. All techniques will be done without using a press and can be reproduced at home.
Open to all levels. Designed for new or returning printmakers looking to add to their skill set. Most supplies are included aside from the short list below.
Supply list (please bring with you):
3 sheets of white printmaking paper: Stonehenge or BFK Rives. (not needed until 2nd class)
3 Soft-Kut (or similar) printing blocks, size (4x6-ish, all the same size)
Sketchbook and pencil
Textured scrap materials such as paper, fabric, thread, leaves, feathers, etc.
Optional supplies (we'll have these in class, but you'll need them if you want to practice at home)
Linoleum cutting set
Brayer, 3" soft
Acrylic palette or piece of plexiglass
Baren or wooden spoon
Preregistration is encouraged to reserve your spot. A minimum of 5 students is needed to run this class.
Instructor Rachel Church maintains an active studio practice at Running With Scissors Artist Studios in Portland where she makes prints, creates textiles, binds books, and paints.
