Workshop/Class policies and info
For specific details about your class or workshop (such as materials lists and meeting times) please refer to the workshop description.
class Registration and Payments
To reserve your spot in a class please sign up in advance. Full payment must be received to reserve your spot. Registration can be made until the class is full anytime prior to the first session. Once a class is full you'll be invited to join a wait list in case a spot opens up.
We accept all payment types through our website via Stripe or Paypal. In person we can take cash, checks, and all cards with Square. If you prefer to pay by check please email us to let us know it's coming and then mail it to Still Life Studio, LLC, 82 Elm St., Portland ME 04101.
class Cancelations and Refunds
Class sizes are small and we rely on your commitment to run the class and to pay the instructor. If you need to withdraw from a class please give as much notice as possible so there is ample opportunity to fill your spot.
- Cancelations 14 days or more prior to the first session: a full refund will be issued.
- Cancelations without 14 days notice: a 50% refund will be issued.
- Cancelations within 48 hours: no refunds can be given.
Please understand that even when a class has a waitlist it's difficult to fill spots at the last minute because people have made other plans. If you cannot attend you may gift your spot to a friend or find another student to take your place. Please contact us prior to the class to inform us of the transfer.
If a class does not meet the minimum enrollment to run you will be notified as soon as possible (within 7 days) and you will be refunded. For those making travel plans to Portland, please check in with us via email to make sure the class has met the minimum before booking flights/hotel.
Please plan to attend all sessions of a workshop or class. Partial refunds for missed class time cannot be made. If you miss one class in a series you may email the instructor to ask for a summary of what was covered.
In cases of severe inclement weather class will be canceled and a make-up date will be scheduled. Winter classes will typically go on as scheduled despite the presence of snow. Anyone registered for a canceled workshop may choose between the make-up date or a refund. If we need to cancel a class for any reason a full refund will be issued.
Demonstrations are usually first on the agenda, so late arrivals may mean missing important material. Please plan to show up a few minutes early to set up and get comfortable before we start class. After class begins the door will often be locked to prevent disruptions from unscheduled visitors (please knock and we'll come let you in).
Depending on the class, we use chairs and upright easels or tables. Students are welcome to sit or stand as they prefer, or to bring their favorite chair/stool. If you require any specific accommodations please let us know in advance so we can set up the studio for your best comfort.
Weekday evenings after 5pm and all weekend there is free parking available for our guests in the lot next to the studio (ignore signs that say permit required). At other times parking is available on the street and in garages located on Elm St. near Cumberland and Congress Streets.
