Private Lessons: cancellation and rescheduling

Once booked, lesson slots are reserved for you so that no other students can book during those times. One lesson per series of six may be made up if canceled with 24 hours of advance notice. All remaining lessons will need to happen at their scheduled times. Refunds are not available for any unused portion of lesson packages or classes. Any cancellation made on behalf of the instructor will always be made up at your earliest convenience.

Group class/workshop cancellations and refunds

Class sizes are small and we rely on your commitment to green-light each class. A 50% nonrefundable deposit is included in your registration fee. If you withdraw from the class 3 days or more prior to the first session a 50% refund will be issued. No refunds can be given for withdrawals made within 3 days (72 hours) of the first session.

Please understand that even when a class has a waiting list it's difficult to fill spots at the last minute because people have made other plans. If you cannot attend you may transfer your spot to a friend or find another student to take your place. Please reach out within 2 days (48 hours) prior to the class to inform us of the transfer.

If a class does not meet the minimum enrollment to run you will be notified as soon as possible and you will be refunded. For those making travel plans to Portland, please check in via email to make sure the class has met the minimum before booking flights/hotel.

Please plan to attend all sessions of a workshop or class. Partial refunds for missed class time cannot be given. If you miss a class you may email the instructor to ask for a summary of what was covered.

Class registration and payments

To reserve your spot in a class please sign up in advance. Full payment must be received to reserve your spot. Registration can be made until the class is full anytime prior to the first session. Once a class is full you'll be invited to join a wait list in case a spot opens up.

All payment types are accepted through the website via Stripe or PayPal, or via Venmo. If you prefer to pay by check please contact me to let me know it's coming and to receive the correct mailing address. Your spot will not be reserved until your check as been received.

Weather

In cases of severe inclement weather class will be canceled and a make-up date will be scheduled. Winter classes will typically go on as scheduled despite the presence of snow.

Late arrivals

Demonstrations are usually first on the agenda, so late arrivals may mean missing important material. Please plan to show up a few minutes early to set up and get comfortable before we start class.

Comfort

In the studio we use stools or chairs and upright easels. If you need any accommodation or if you have equipment preferences please let me know in advance so I can set up the studio for your best comfort. Please wear comfortable clothing that you won’t mind getting messy. I do have smocks and aprons for students to use. Layers are encouraged in the colder months.

Dog sensitive clients, please note…

My dog Barry often joins me at the studio. He’s very kind and respectful, however those with serious allergies may not be comfortable in this space. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
